2 wire ATS642 sensor inside 6hp gearbox

Hello.

It is a second week that I am trying to read the 2 wire ATS642 sensor. I've tried everything to my knowledge and I still can not get any results.

The sensor is located inside 6hp19 gearbox:

It has only two wires and I found out that it is ATS642.

I've connected it to arduino and tried to read it with pulse interrupt - nothing.
Osciloscope shows - nothing.

I've tried connecting it though VR conditioner and ... nothing. No pulses.

Maybe somebody could help me with wiring schematics on hot to properly connect, condition, measure pulses? I am absolutely desperate.

Hi, @viktor6hp
Welcome to the forum.

Can you please post some circuit diagrams showing how you have tried to connect the sensor to the Arduino.
What model Arduino are you using?

Thanks.. Tom... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

HI, @viktor6hp

Did you look at the datasheet?
It has how to connect the sensor to an ECU.

Hi, Tom.

Thank you for reply. Yes, I've read the datasheet. As I understood sensor has to generate PWM signal. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Here is a rough schematic:

Hi, @viktor6hp
Looking at the spec sheet.
The supply should be 4 to 24V, so 5V should be okay.
The spec also shows.

6mA for a low and 14mA for a HIGH.
Their sheet shows a 100R resistor, so the pulses across the resistor will be.
V = I x R
Low = 0.006 x 100 = 0.6V
High = 0.014 x 100 = 1.4V

5 Volts supply might be a bit low, have you tried 12V?

Note that the device goes through a setup procedure before outputting a signal, but this should not be noticeable.
Also the output pulse may be PWM but depending on how your reference gear in the engine is concerned may be a combination of pulses per revolution.

The frequency will change with engine speed.

PS. Sorry mate, I have to get some sleep, 3:41am here, been awake with shingles, thanks for the diversion/distraction. :+1: :+1: :+1:
