Hi I'm looking for a reliable diagram on connecting a arduino mega to large stepper motors to form a 4 axis cnc router can someone guide me in the wright direction as there are lots all over the internet but which is reliable to follow ?
To begin, just connect one stepper. Then when you get that and the software to work, wire the remaining steppers the same way.
In the meantime, find stepper controller boards that can handle the voltage and current needed to operate the steppers. And find power supplies to supply the needed voltage and current.

You connect the Mega to stepper drivers. The size of the motor is irrelevant to the Mega.
If this post does not meet your requirements, then ignore it.

You connect the Mega to stepper drivers.
And most stepper drivers just need a step and direction connection to the Arduino. Some may also require an enable connection or the enable pin could be permanently connected to GND or to 5v - whichever is necessary to make the driver work.
