900mhz wireless

Hello i was wondering something Isn't 900mhz band licensed for cellphone use only? I was looking for a long range wireless and found a arduino wireless board that said it uses a 900mhz and long range. This is the board Click here Would this be possible to use without some kind of licensed or cellphone type of cell phone communication?

I'm just wondering if this is possible to use this kind of device without getting in trouble sense it is using 900mhz freq and going to network 2 of them together?

Depends which country you are in.

Lookup ISM band on Wikipedia

Some countries allow the use of 915 Mhz ISM class devices.

I'm in the usa.

It is from 902 to 928 ism bands are for industrial, scientific and medical (ISM)

Assuming you are in a region where you can use the 900Mhz ISM band, just use the part of it from 915MHz to 928MHz , as GSM 900 maximum frequency is 915Mhz

But double check the information with the correct authority for your country as the Wikipedia information is generalised

Thank you RogerClark looks like it will work for what i need it.
