A line follower with obstacle avoidance arduino robot project

apparently my school is held a project and my team is propose to make a line follower robot with obstacle avoidance but,my team also propose that the robot will stop for couple of second before turning away and continue its path.

and while my team rely on me because they thought i could do some coding but in reality i really have no idea about what kind of formula for these kind of robot.

here's the spec: arduino uno r3,pair of infrared sensor,ultrasonic sensor,motor driver l298n

Have a word with your team and tell them you know nothing and they can fire you ! - You can’t be in a team without honesty, what made them think you were the one for the job?
Projects don’t just appear as school projects , you will have had done lessons in this area.
What went wrong ??

Line following robots are a common project , google will find them .
The 298 motor driver is a poor choice , investigate why .
