Hello ,
I am currently working on a robot car and instead of using regular dc motors I bought faster ones but my problem is that it can't fit in the wheel so what do you suggest making ? Maybe editing the wheels , creating a new wheel by myself , using gears please tell me what can I do and how to do it.
Thanks.
The motor turns at 18,000 RPM with 6V. That needs to be reduced by a factor of around 100 to be usable for robot mobility. That means gears or some other mechanism to reduce speed.
It will probably be easier to get motors with integral gears (gear motors). Pololu has a good selection with wheels to fit and most motors have encoders available. Encoders are handy for controlling motor speed and measuring position.
Forum intension is to help members learn and grow in programming. Some electronics help is also provided.
It's not a free mechanics toyshop fixing just anything.
Find an RC (radio control) club in your city. They will have the knowledge to match wheels and motors.
If you want to DIY, look up Heat Set Inserts. This is the method of heating a metal insert (nut, usually) while applying pressure to the metal insert, and when the metal insert reaches the melting temperature of the receiver plastic, the metal insert is pressed into the receiver plastic.
You can use a low-temperature solder-iron (wrapped in foil to spare the tip from plastic)
