Is there a currently produced, UK available 16 bit DAC for Arduino?
If not i'll get a minima and accept that, but I would definitely prefer a 16 bit DAC.

You mean on a breakout board? There are hundreds of such chips, but without a good voltage reference and stable power source there's no point going beyond 12 bits really...
Or is this for audio? I2S DACs are normally used there, requiring a microcontroller that can drive them and generate low-jitter I2S clocks.
Well, it is for audio, but not for .wav playback or anything.
I really don't mind if it is a breakout board, I suppose that would make it easier. An I2C or I^2S would be fine too.
Are they common then? Can you recommend one that is affordable and readily available?
I assume that that board can be configured to output a constant voltage as well as a sine wave? And everything that I could image doing with a normal DAC, could be done with it?
No, don't assume anything, read the AD5693R documentation. ![]()
And note that I2C DACs have to be slow due to the slow I2C bus. SPI devices can be much faster, as are I2S.
Check out PT8211.
10pcs for under $5.
ADS1115 is another option.
Inexpensive and widely available.
That seems to be an ADC not a DAC.
Yes, you're right. It goes the other way around.
