Combining AI with social media is much more likely to end us than nukes but the next few weeks will be a test for nukes. Iran was banned by fatwa of the now murdered leader of Iran from creating nuclear weapons. They only need 2 to 3 weeks to get their 1/2 ton of material from 62% pure to 95% and a further 2 to 3 weeks to finish the bomb. They already have missiles with dummy warheads. They just replace the dummy with a real warhead.
"The Anarchist's Cookbook" (the title of which begat "The Arduino Cookbook") contains a LOT of accurate information. Printed twenty years before ARPAnet was decommissioned to make way for the WWW. So... ban books? (just food for thought)
I don't recall saying anything about 'banning books', I was saying parts of the internet namely social media is destructive. I am seeing a huge increase in AI and it is getting a lot harder to spot.
That was an (editorial) argument "for" the dumbification of the internet... like, "books got a pass under free speech, why not the www?"
I imagine browser updates to soon allow AI and social media content blocking... knowing my choices are being returned to the analyst. I read Windows 12 will be "AI driven"... whatever that means... predictive minesweeper?

I have never heard of an OS being the source of a popup but I drive a Mac with good security software and do not ever see any anywhere.
I do not blame the internet. It provides a great service, but it is neither
good nor bad; it simply moves data around the world without judgment. It also provides a tremendous suite of useful tools.
AI is a form of logic that responds to user input according to how it was designed. Too many people think of it as an entity, which it is not.
I know, but before we had instant global communications, the idiots of the world couldn't gain any traction.

I think our definitions are different. There was no RF ability for two of those, and the Bolshevik era had almost no distribution to the masses. And not instant outside Russia.

Facebook alone is far more evil and destructive than all 3 of those combined. It is the major reason a Nazi maniac is the head of the largest most lethal army in the world, and is about to kill millions or allow his puppet master Israel do it for him.

If your neighbour, whom you have assisted in many armed conflicts, 911, Yellow Ribbon, CA fires, NO flood, etc., all of a sudden threatens to make you the 51st state, then don't be surprised that the 'nice' Canadians turn 'not nice'.
I have better things to do than give you a laundry list of some of your problems, but I will mention that when I was told by my sister that the USA is racist, I didn't believe her. I do now. It's even worse than that, killing white people, setting up concentration camps, grabbing citizens off the streets and locking them up or shipping them to foreign countries.
I have relatives in the USA. When I was working in the USA, I had many 'work friends'. Mind you, these were all people of above-average intelligence, many educated at MIT or similar institutions. I even owned property in NH for many years and vacationed there once or twice a year. Amongst the boycotts and other fightback activities, the no-travel-to-the-USA policy is having the most public adverse effects. The border states, Florida, and Vegas are most affected, and the damage is estimated at between $4.5 Billion and $5.7 Billion.
Circling back, a lot of DJT's success is due to Social Media. Aside from the bias, they use their power to promote the right wing and suppress the left wing.

I hope you do not have family members in the service. The war the USA started and is losing will probably get a lot worse before it gets better.
I have lived (worked) around the world for most of my life. My observations were nowhere near yours. My most memorable (favorite?) experiences were where differences were greatest. One example, I sat down to a pub dinner, sharing the table with three others who (we all learned) were "sworn enemies" of "my kind." We shared stories, wishes, ideas, a lot of fries/chips and drinks. We listened. We talked. We did not tread lightly. At the end of the evening, we genuinely wished each other well, because we proved humans are all wanting the same things. Some are willing to listen. These experiences are why I never let anyone tell me how "those people/ideas/issues" are. I learn by reading and listening to "them." Disconnect from whatever is feeding you the stuff that keeps you worried. Separate news from noise, and Ignore the noise. Live a good life, for yourself.
