I have an elderly friend who has a condition that makes him shake constantly. He told me he fell the other day and had to sleep on the floor because no one was there to help him and he couldn't call anyone because his hand was shaking to much to press the buttons he wanted to on his android phone.
I have an old school flip phone, but I know smart phones have the ability to make calls by voice recognition. I looked at his phone for about 30 minutes and found an app called voice dialer, but to use the app it appears that you have to click on it to activate the feature each time you wish to make a call, which would not be very helpful for him.
Can someone tell me how to enable an Android version 4.4.2 phone for T-Mobley to make calls using voice recognition so that I can get this to work for him? Do I need a special app, or do I need to do something in settings to enable that setting on the phone?
I am also interested in learning if I can intergrade the android app to control the adruino project. I have it set up so that I can search for the ip address and it will control my project.
If I can understand how the speech recognition system works I would like to try and figure out if I could program it so that vocally telling the android to turn his lights on and off and it sync to the ip address which tells the adruino to flip the relay. Or I could use a sim card module so telling the phone to make a call to the lights actually controls the lights.
I thought it would be best to take baby sets and approach this one set at a time. Is this a reasonable project? I know I could probably buy a system that already does that, but I learn best with hands on experiences that actually have a purpose, and I am very interesting in learning.
