Arduino and windows surface go 2 compatibility

Hi everyone!

I have been using Arduino for quite a long time in my windows 10 PC, and I am planing to buy a Windows Surface Go 2 to keep doing it while travelling.

I have read from previous threads that some people have had issues connecting their Arduino boards to the Windows Surface Go (the previous version) and running the Arduino IDE. So I was wondering, is this problem still happening with the Go 2? And if it does, is there any way (buying some USB adapter e.g.) to solve it?

Thank you, and stay safe!

If you just want to develop sketches then the CREATE platform might be an option as it supports a few OS but IIRC not always embedded OS such as the surface.

A PROPER laptop would give you much more compatability with more software than a surface ever could and even a chomebook is currently supported.

IMHO they are over priced tablets as best much like the Ipads.

That is not to say they wont work but we do not see much from people using them.

thank you for the info! I will rethink about how to do it then

Hi again, quick update:

I could install Arduino IDE on my Surface Go 2 as soon as I deactivated the "S" mode. It just responds as an average computer, and in order to connect several boards I bought an adapter to the USB-C port this tablet has.

Hope this helps someone else in the future. In that case, good luck!
