ARDUINO MKR 1010 IP ADDRESS ISSUE

Hello All,

I have an issue which i do not understand why its occurring . I am using the Arduino MKR 1010 for my project . I am using the WIFI
I have connected it to my student accommodation WiFi. After the IP address is printed to access the web page , i have tried accessing the page using different browsers however i would always get an error as :

This site can’t be reached10.68.207.223 took too long to respond.
Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
Running Windows Network Diagnostics
ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

Has anyone faced the same issue or might know a reason why this might be happening.

Thanks

I'll ask from 2 different angles...

  1. Do you see any sign of life from the Arduino that it's connecting to the network OK? That is, are you watching the serial console, and do you see anything? From the code you attached, I'm assuming you just delete the network password from the file (and it's not just missing when you run). Is that just demo code that you found somewhere that should "just work"?

  2. Is there some reason your browser wouldn't be able to get to the Arduino (from a network standpoint)? What's the IP addr of the laptop or whatever running the browser? Are they on the same subnet? Is there any NAT routing in between?

Hello ,

Thanks for the reply .

  1. Yes , on the console the SSID ,IP Address ,signal strength and message to visit the IP address to control LED etc..
Well the network does not have a password , instead we are given a portal we add the MAC address of the devices used in order to ensure its connectivity to the internet . I have used another sketch to print the mac address of MKR board and added it to my list of devices.
About the sketch , yes it was a live broadcast done by arduino to show an example available on youtube and arduino on how to connect the board to the internet as well to use to control LED and Servo . I am following the example so i can follow the same concept in my project . Wireless Control of Devices with the MKR1010 - Arduino LiveCast Series S02E04 - YouTube

  2. Both the board and Laptop are connected to the same network but have different IP address . I hope this has answered this question . Sorry i am new to this .

I don't have any other ideas off the top of my head. I'm trying to think of ways to debug it. I don't see anything obvious there that just wouldn't work.

Do you know if there's anything special about the portal where it would disallow inbound connections to the Arduino (as opposed to connections that originate outbound from the Arduino)?

I can't say off the top of my head. Gut feeling, though, is that it could be network-related (not necessarily Arduino-related). I don't have a good way to prove that though.

Try to ping your Arduino. It does not require your sketch except for the initialization of the WiFi module.

Open a CMD window on Windows and type ping 192.168.XXX.XXX (IP address of your Arduino).

Another question worth to ask:
are you sure you initiated the web server service server.begin() and set up the webpage that server will fire once it receives the call from the browser?

A very good sketch to test is the simple webserver from the WiFiNINA library examples.
