Arduino notepad project idea possible?

Hello everyone, I am using an arduino on a windows 10 computer and I have recently been wanting to build a device where i can write notes and save them onto that device to view whenever i need to. I have seen a few videos on how to output data from the arduino to a display whether it be LCD, OLED etc.

However, what i want to do is to have a touch screen display that i can write on ( the diaplay will need a touchscreen keypad) and save the files to read later. Not many people seem to be using the touch screen diaplays for something like this as i havent found anything on this, however i would find a device like this very useful, if anybody has any suggestions as to how i could make/program something like this please let me know, and thank you for reading.

Save on the Pc?
So You want the Arduino/touch screen to be an input device and save data on the Pc?

I've never done ANYTHING with a screen or LCD display but it certainly seems possible and fairly straightforward as long as you have enough resolution for all of the keys on the keyboard and as long as the screen is large enough for typing.

But for a practical project, I'd use a smart phone or Android tablet. (Or an iPad.)

Sorry, basically a complete waste of time.

And a "tablet" to do this with no further fuss can be obtained for something like $70 or so, just purchasing the parts for your imagined project would immediately exceed this.

This idea comes up every now and then, but seriously, it's a dead duck.

That's a worry too! :astonished:

why is me being on Windows 10 worrying to you?

He is probably just being a silly macintosh user, but that aside, what you propose is indeed quite impractical, and I'm sure you won't find it the least bit useful.

No, I am not a silly Macintosh user.

Where possible, I use a decent operating system on common (relatively inexpensive, so not Apple) PCs, one from which Apple cribbed their current OS.

I would be surprised if Nick had not come across my explanation already.

Lol, it definately wouldnt be the most useful decive, ill find something else to do with a touchscreen, or e paper, hopefully something that will be more needed/useful.

You will get plenty of support round here for both peripherals. I think touch screens are mainly used for menus.
