Arduino Starter Kit Descriptor Failure 2021

Hi All

I bought an Arduino for my nephew who's 16 years old and were excited to start our first project.

Plugging in the device, Windows gave a "This device is not recognized" message. Device Manager shows "Descriptor Failure". Green light is solid, yellow is flashing.

I've been looking for a solution on forums for a week now. Installed new drivers, used different caples, different ports, USB 2.0 hyb and that Chinese driver for "clones". Nothing works.

How do I get a refund? This thing cost me 92 euros and failed from the start.

Contact the vendor your purchased it from!

Ofcourse I will, but it's such a shame though? Seems like an interesting hobby for a young kid to stat out with, and now I have to tell him the whole thing is a scam.

Who was the vendor?

That shows the Arduino is actually working and running code.

Is this a clone, otherwise why try it?

That shows you that the programmer was expecting a different sort of Arduino than you had set in the IDE. Did you set the right one?
