Arduino Uno R4 WiFi board shows offline

Dear Team,

I am using Arduino UNO R4 Wi-Fi board and trying to create a thing (simple LED) in Arduino Cloud. I am facing two problems.

  1. While trying to dump the sketch from Cloud, "Update Firmware" window pops up and ultimately the upgrade fails. Not sure why? But when "open full editor" is accessed, I am able to upload the sketch to the board.
  2. While I crossed the first step, I see that device if offline and never seen in online. Board is conned to the laptop.

Please, let me know if I am missing anything here.

I was able to solve the problem by doing the firmware upgrade from the Arduino IDE. Now the device is online.

After doing the firmware update to 3.0, it is essential that you unplug the UNO R4 before using it with the cloud. Otherwise it doesn't work. This should be emphasized in the on-screen updater instructions.

I agree that it is very important to communicate the need for this final action to the user.

If by "on-screen updater", you are referring to the "Firmware Updater" feature of Arduino IDE, there is a related request here:

When Arduino Cloud updates the firmware during the Device creation process, it does a pretty good job of communicating about it via a dedicated step in the dialogs:

Considering how important this step is, it might be worth adding some visual styling (e.g., a large :warning: symbol) to this dialog in order to make sure to catch the attention of the type of user who might otherwise simply click that "CONFIRM" button without bothering to read the instructions in the dialog.

Thanks- somehow I had missed that, and spent many hours trying to fruitlessly connect the R4 Wifi to the cloud until I happened to notice this final step in one of the forums.

I had nothing but bad luck with the one I bought.
