@magnus2508 please do not hijack topics. Although your symptoms might be the same the root cause might not be the same.

  1. Are you indeed using an Arduino Uno R3 (or clone of it)? Or are you using another Aruino Uno (e.g. WiFi rev2, Uno R4...)?
    • In case of a clone, what is the serial-to-usb converter on the board?
    • Did you install the drivers (if needed)?
  2. Does COM5 disappear from the IDE (and from Windows device manager) if you disconnect the board?
  3. Which version of the IDE are you using?
