ArduinoUno no longer recognized by Windows 7

I was using my arduino on a Windows 7 computer without any issues, but when I installed new drivers to recognize a different USB device, the computer stopped recognizing the arduino as it had previously. While the ArduinoUno used to show up under 'devices' in the devices and printers menu, now it shows up under 'unspecified' and further, the 'L' led is now blinking all the time. I'm using the arduino to control a laser via FreezeFrame software. Previously, the laser was off until the FreezeFrame software initiated the arduino. Now the laser blinks all the time, as though the 5Hz program I wrote on the arduino is constantly running without requiring any input from the computer. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers without any success. Currently, the driver file pathname is: C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\usbser.sys. It says it's from arduino.org so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any advice is much appreciated!
