ATtiny 85 Burning bootloader

Hello, I just recently got ATtiny 85's to program via ISP from my Arduino 101. I followed this guide here:

Programming ATtiny85 with Arduino Uno

When I went to burn the bootloader, I got whis error:

avrdude done.  Thank you.

Error while burning bootloader.

I made sure the wiring is correct. The ISP is downloading fine too.

Thank you.

500 error code usually means wiring issue or wrong pin. Did you verify you have the right pin? That the ATTiny85 is not backward? I'd try adding a 10k resistor between tiny's reset pin and 5v in case it's floating funny.

You no need burn bootloader for ATTiny85. Just upload with programmer will do.

Here are some images:

By the way, here is where I got the ATtiny 85's. There is also a datasheet if you have any questions.

I saw your 10uF capacitor is reverse.

I tried reversing it, but I got the same error:

Error while burning bootloader.
avrdude done.  Thank you.

I was wondering if it could be my Arduino - I have an Arduino 101. Would that change anything? (I have the board downloaded)

Your PIN7 of ATTiny85 is not connected ?

It is connected.

See attached photo, are we talking the same pin ?

It is hard to see, but that is connected with a white wire that blends in behind the black one.

Are you following the link which lead you to select board as UNO ? I think your board selection of UNO may not work, since you are using Arduino 101, it shall be Intel Curie core or Arduino 101 core.

I wonder if there's some non-obvious reason the 101 doesn't work. I recall someone else complaining that they couldn't get it to work either. The 101 is a weird board, and hasn't gone over well in the market (I suspect intel paid to get their uninspiring IoT chip into an Arduino product, in the hopes of drumming up some interest in it) - and as far as I can tell, it has been a flop in the market; I hear almost no talk about it, seems very few people are using it.

So it would be best just to get an UNO?
What about using this AVR Programmer?

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11801

That could work.

People are divided about whether USBTinyISP clones or USBAsp clones work better. My core is tested with USBAsp clones (the $3-5 ones from ebay et. al.)

Tis sparkfun programmer is using Davis Mellis ATiny core. I suggest you use UNO and use DrAzzy core. At least any issue DrAzzy can help you on any issue you encounter.
