avrdude. Invalid device signature. Programming ATTiny85 with Mega 2560

Hi!

I get always the error:
avrdude: Device signature = 0x000000
avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
this check.

When programming an ATTiny85 with and Arduino Mega2560 R3. Attached is the picture of the wiring, I followed this wiring:

ATtiny Pin 1: Pin 53 ATtiny Pin 8: VCC
ATtiny Pin 2: S/C ATtiny Pin 7: Pin 52
ATtiny Pin 3: S/C ATtiny Pin 6: Pin 50
ATtiny Pin 4: GND ATtiny Pin 5: Pin 51

10 uF capacitor + to Reset of Mega, - to GND.

Here is the detailed output:

The sketch I try to upload is this one:

int led = 3;

void setup() {
pinMode(led, OUTPUT);
}

void loop() {
digitalWrite(led, HIGH);
delay(1000);
digitalWrite(led, LOW);
delay(1000);
}

Configuration for the boards is attached.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks!

Tried pin 10 instead pin 53 of Mega but same error.

BTW I have selected by mistake ATTiny25 but now I corrected. Still the same error. Any other idea?

So the issue persists. Has anyone any idea on how to solve it? Thanks!

Well, I tried to put external cristal and the -F option as suggested by the software but it doesn´t work neither.

I tried also to burn the boatloader but I get this output:

So can you help me with this please? Thanks!

Hi again!

So there are some good advancements. I changed my arduino Mega 2560 for an arduino nano and now it both burns the bootloader and the sketch to the ATTiny85. I used these instructions: http://forums.4fips.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1080

The only little thing is that the LED does not blink...

As this is now a different topic, I will post a new one with the current topic. Thanks!

did you get this working? i'm doing the same and having the same problem.

can i just use the icsp header to connect to the pins to attiny?

Has any one managed to solve the problem invalid device signature using Arduino Mega 2560

...bad i also have the same problem to program attiny85 with arduino mega 2560 and arduino software version 1.8.2.. avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature. Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override this check. ????-I spent 2 days reading on the net........

That message means you have either connected the wires wrong or have set fuses to use a crystal when no crystal is connected (or have in fact selected a different chip than the one you're trying to program)

Grazie a voi!

thanks to DrAzzy ... I replaced the (trinket with attiny 85), inserting a trinket equal module and using arduino nanof as ISP programmer ..... (tiny85 ... 16mhz external) ... at first shot everything worked I can load any sketch on the trinket. But by inserting on the connectors the previous module, arduino always responds with the message I posted earlier. Is there another way to revive the attiny85? Thanks to you!

finally reading here I understood everything !!

https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-unlock-Digispark-ATtiny85-and-convert-it-to/ bye!!

Hi,

I have same issue. With IDE 1.8.2 not apple to burn bootloader. Solution was to upload first old IDE 1.6.3 ArduinoISP -> After that burning succesfully with IDE 1.8.2
