Hi guys! I've been working on this "try me" button that simply plays some audio and then activates a toy (which has a "try me" button female jack). I tested the whole thing during its early stages using a breadboard and such and it worked just as I expected. However, as I moved on to the soldering process and then tested the final result, I noticed that everything else worked except the audio. Upon pressing the button, all that can be heard is a weird buzz sound. It appears to be playing the audio, however, it's buzzing and I'm not sure why since it worked fine before. I'm using an ATtiny85 and a DFPlayer Mini in this project with a 4.5 volt power supply using 3 LR44 batteries.
I... I have some bad news for you... I am terribly sorry, but I think you have to know that your DFPlayer... has moved on... I am sorry for your loss.
May he rest among the fried LEDs in that box our father Volta took him to.
So yes I think the module is dead, I have two of them that after i short-circuited them with 8V on the SPK pin they started to make strange buzzing-motorcycle sounds. If i get them to work ill tell you.
Edit: Is your Vcc of the DFPlayer conneted? I've just seen that in the schematic it is unconnected, but the video shows 6 cables.
Yikes I worried that'd be the case. I forgot to mention this but I made the rookie mistake of applying power to the circuit while the DFPlayer Mini was being held by an alligator clip which was touching multiple pins. So I'm pretty sure I fried it, guess I'll have to get a new one, I'll let you know if that was the case. Thanks! : )
HI again! I just bought a new DFPlayer Mini and tested it out. I ensured that nothing that may short circuit was possible but the problem persists. I will go back and put everything on a breadboard to see if anything is different. But if you find the solution with yours I'd greatly appreciate it if you explained how you fixed it, many thanks! : )
Hi! I just tested the circuit using a breadboard and everything seems to work perfectly. However, whenever I change the power supply from the Arduino Uno 5V pin to 3 LR44 batteries with a Schottky diode for protection, the issue emerges. Any idea why this behavior is occurring? Thanks in advance! : )
Hey! Well that seems like you are short of power for the DFPlayer. That things is quite power hungry and if the batteries cant supply enough amperage, the voltage might drop enough to the point that it just starts buzzing (also, take into account that the Schottky takes some voltage).
I have had lots of power problems but I think I never got buzzing... Worth a try with 3 AA though!
Hi! As it turns out, the LR44 batteries weren't supplying enough current for the DFPlayer Mini, so I ended up using a 602025 3.7V 250mAh LiPo battery, specifically this one, and now it works! Thank you nonetheless for your help! : )
