I'm looking for a bright (similar to 100w bulb / 1600 lumen) LED light setup that is powered by battery that can ideally be recharged, and lasts longer than 90 minutes. Any thoughts?
You may have to use multiple lights to reach that 1600 lumen rating. Security lights from Harbor Freight are quite bright, last all night, and are recharged by sunlight. Of course, this solution may only work out in the USA.
Perhaps you need to provide more details.
vaj4088,
Thanks for the Harbor Freight recommendation - looks good although I would ultimately want something to remain on (the security light times out max at 2 minutes)
I would hook this up to be triggered in the event of a power outage
I need it to last more than 3-4 hours.
Preferably rechargeable (via solar is an option), but leaning away from memory-problem battery types like NiCad (from what I think I know) and more towards lithium-types? (need more info on this)
20W LED array, constant-current boost-converter, 50Wh battery pack? (12V 4Ah SLA on constant trickle charge?)

MarkT,
Thanks for your input.
Would the following suffice towards that LED module?
Hrmz - I guess I need a 12v LED emitter plate vs that one...
You could use some 12V MR11 6W 570 lumen (you would need 3) from 'Light in the box' at
£1.63 each. That would be 1.5 amps. You would need something to hold them.
Why waste energy stepping up the voltage from 12v only to have your lamp fitting step it back down again.

I would still need an LED driver for these, correct?

MR11 bulbs contain their own driver. If you tore the bulb apart you'd find something like this.
Thanks Chagrin!
