Is there any alternate part matching the transistor specification

Try BC337 but check yourself that the characteristics meet your requirements : https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/BC337-D.PDF

Google is your friend

Can you still get BC108s?

Yes, BC108, BC108B, BC108C, BC107's and BC109's.

However people mostly use the TO92 versions, BC547/548/549, as they are cheaper.

OK but a BC108 etc. appears to have an Ic of 200mA. The CIL187 offers a more generous 700mA

I already pointed out the 2N2222 in OP's other thread, but a BC337 is also in that category.

The BC10x pre-dates the BC54x series.
x means the same for both families.
7 selected for higher voltage, 8 more for switching, 9 for low noise.
Leo..

Somebody who should know better cross posted !

Cmon dont be doing that.
