Esp32 s3 mini 1, can’t get serial monitor to function

Hey everyone,
First time posting long time reader,
I have a esp32 s3 mini 1and I feel like I have tried everything to get the serial monitor to work.
I have ran other tests on the esp and they have worked
I have reinstalled ide and no change
I have used multiple different codes to see if I had made a mistake
Only thing that stands out is board type will only connect if I have it set as esp32 s3 usb otg
Any ideas would be amazing

also forgot to mention baud rate in code is 115200 and same on serial monitor

If you have the option USB CDC On Boot in the tools menu, what is it set to?

Try to set it to Enabled, upload and try.

If it's already set to enabled, I don't know what causes your problem.

My options in the tool bar where slightly different but it worked, thanks so much

USB Mode: “ hardware CDC and JTAG”

Instead of

USB Mode: “ USB-OTG”
