ESP8266 can't connect Bad Board?

I have been messing with the ESP8266 for a few days but can't seem to get things going.
I have an external power supply set to 3.4volts seems to power the board up ok..

installed everything ok choose the generic ESP8266 board.. blue led flashes but can't talk to board.

tried with a UNO and a MEGA same results

Tried a esp8266 flash program and when I run it the Arduino was flashing fast and so was the ESP8266 but didn't write anything to the board, I checked the voltage when flashing to the RX pin and it was dropping to 0volts. so I don't know what else to try or is a bad board?

Thanks

Hi, there is a lot missing here. Please read the forum guidelines on how to ask a question.

At 3.4 volt power supply applied to what pin? No surprise it failed.
No help for us, telling about other failures.

Just post a full schematic of what you have tried, what board you have (link) and how you plan to upload or communicate.

The RX or TX LED ?

Check this
tutorial.

Have you followed tutorials for this - if it’s the bare 8266 certain pins need to be at certain voltages for it to go into program mode.Example - note pin connections

Read the instructions.
