Exposed copper wire

I have three projects witch copper is exposed, on the holes of the speaker and the boards obviously(through hole solder) but my worries are the exposed copper is still 50cm away from the target electronic(i removed too much insulation)
The copper is non tinned and 1 core
Is oxidation affecting my electronics and i need to put nail polish in then or any type of insulator or im fine??
Cable is small, i dont have pictures right now

Simply use heat shrink tubing for insulation

As long as the leads don't touch, I wouldn't worry about it.

Just tin it, or desolder -> trim off excess copper -> solder on.

cut off, re-tin and solder back on....

Woah

Yeah... heat shrink tubing would be a "quick fix" IF both ends aren't soldered and you can slip it over the wire.

But since it sounds like both ends are soldered, you'll have to un-solder and re-solder anyway.

If you don't have a soldering iron, maybe hot-glue (or some kind of glue). Nail polish might chip-off.

Electrical tape also might work but it tends to come loose over time, so maybe electrical tape and super glue. They actually make heat-shrink tape, but I've never used it.

I find it difficult to believe that you removed 50cm too much insulation and your picture shows much, much less exposed copper

If you removed the insulation then you presumably soldered the connections afterwards, so why not unsolder them and correct your error ? While you are at it make some decent soldered connections too

Yes. A cold joint if ever I saw one.

Got itπŸ‘

It was the original size bc after i soldered it i cut the wire, the solder tip was magnetic so it was a pain( i now have non magnetic tips)

Yeah i might need to resolder it lol, focused on other projects rn so thats not very important

Thanks for the responses guys

Yes, just waiting to fail :frowning:

Look at getting a tube of liquid insulation tape, rather than apply nail varnish. It does not crack over time or when flexed like nail varnish.

Never heard of such a thing!

However, a quick search found some.

Thanks Mike!

Only buy a small tube, because it only has a two years shelf life. One pot I got from eBay had gone off and I had to get a refund.

Disgusting :scream:

Always properly tin the ends of your wires !

Also, buy a small bottle of liquid flux, use it sparingly.

You only need a few millimetres of insulation stripped off.

Strive for a perfect solder connection.
