External Power Supply with LED Matrix

I am trying to use an external power supply with my WS2812B led matrix. As soon as I connect the matrix to the Arduino it works but when I try to connect it to the external power supply it does not work.
Here is my circuit diagram:

Please help me...........
Thank You

What are the power supply specifications (volts, Amps capacity)?

How many LEDs in the strip?

I don't think that the strip will show anything without a signal to Din.

Please post your test code. Read the forum guidelines to see how to properly post code and some hints on how to get the most from this forum.
Use the IDE autoformat tool (ctrl-t or Tools, Auto format) before posting code in code tags.

I suspect not reliably.

At full white, 64 of these LEDs draw 3.5 Amps which is vastly more than the USB connection can supply. The "Barrel jack" is completely useless so we will not even discuss it.

The invisible (white on white) data wire does not help.

Are you by any chance using one of these "MB102" boards and connecting at both ends?

Hi, @nousernameavailable
We need to see a picture(s) of your project please?
We need a proper circuit diagram, draw it with pen(cil) and paper, label components and pin names.

What is your external power supply?
How do you get signal from UNO to the strip?
How do you power the UNO after removing the USB cable?

Thanks... Tom... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:
