hi, i recently bought a fake arduino pro mini 3.3v off aliexpress, i read a post that said it has a
polarity protection that is not present on the original board. My issue is that im paranoid that the board or the uart chip is damaged. i will leave the details below
Connected 5v from uart(ch340g "hw-597") to gnd pin and gnd pin from uart to raw pin.
Are one of these two boards damaged? i compiled the code succesfully on the arduino so...
im paranoid because i read on other forum that some pro mini stopped working on like an hour
i know that 5v on the 3.3v is fine on vcc i guess but idk. Thanks
Always, before turning power on, triple check the connections. If nervous, go away for 10 or 15 minutes then come back and recheck.
One issue some folks have is, if they miss something the first time, when checking the 2nd time it is missed again. In this case make a quick pencil sketch of how it should be hooked up.
Some of these parts can be surprisingly forgiving. You may be lucky enough to have inflicted no net damages.
On the other hand, I would not send those devices to the Moon, whic is to say I would not be counting on them not to fail, and would leave their failure near the top of the list to check if working projects suddenly decide not to. Work.
I have a number of parts that are fine, but have a mark on them I put there that means "been too hot" or has otherwise been mistreated.
