Firgelli linear actuator L12

Hi all!
I am very new to the arduino family, in fact this is my first attempt. I have bought the linear actuator (with the P option) and the LAC board:

I want to control the position of the actuator, extend and retract it, no speed control is needed. i might also add a flexiforce sensor to the system, just to check the applied on the actuator force (i have an analog voltage coming out of the sensor circuit).

could you suggest an suitable arduino board?

The actuator controller uses several methods of control, so a standard arduino should work.

I m going to get an Arduino Uno. I didn't find the smd edition, but i think the standard one should be okay.
do I need any other interface between the arduino and the LAC board?
