Just recently, I have noted that on a new topic found in the Forum:New list, I see a new post; I open it, and see one or two answers. Post a new reply and move on. Come back later to find there are several new posts between mine and the start of thread that are answering the post. Yet were not apparent when I posted my response. This makes participation in the forum painful and counterproductive. Any suggestions of what's going on? It's not a refresh issue, nor is it me leaving my answer unposted. It's a significant lag, and very annoying. Are others seeing this?
Win8, Chrome, if it matters.
One theory, (con theory) is that we now have Moderators watching every post. If so, it's time to pack my bags.
I can assure you that moderators are certainly not watching every post
There is an automatic system that screens every post which can flag posts for moderator attention under some circumstances. It is possible, therefore, for posts to be flagged and subsequently given the all clear by a moderator which may cause them to appear in a topic having been hidden for a while
Having said that I have not noticed a change in the number of flagged posts recently and it would be very unusual for multiple posts in a topic to be flagged and released
It was mostly a flip comment Bob, so don't worry. What I'm curious about is the lag, and whether others are seeing it. It seems to be new(hasn't been an issue until "recently"), and was wondering if anyone would attribute it to forum changes, for example.
It's very well possible that other users are replying while you are replying. And when other users are replying, there is an indicator somewhere in the composer area. From memory it's a user's icon plus the word "typing", not exactly sure where.
I have a feeling that you would like the page to automatically scroll to the last reply when a new reply comes in while you are typing yours.
nope, that's not it. I often have a look(though refresh is problematic, wants to mess with the reply form). I've even taken to cutting my reply, closing the reply box, refreshing the page, and pasting the reply into a new message and posting that. That usually works to get me "in sync", and I can then check the new posts and change my message accordingly; but it's not ideal; write the post, cut, read, find the post is redundant, and move on instead of replying out of sync. I've seen messages from other regular posters that are similarly out of whack, though it's just as likely they didn't read all the messages. It's more like my browser doesn't get the most recent slate of postings until after I hit "reply" to send the post, even though those postings may be 1h or more old, so should have been seen before I started my reply. Whatever it is, it is what it is, I doubt it's something I, or Arduino, can magically fix.
Thanks
Been a long time since I updated my blocker on discourse.
But adding
"2 blacklisted hostname(s)"
"iubenda"
Speeds up my browsing enough to be noticeable on the forum.
You can add them to a blocker or a list on your router as both work.
Thanks, though it's much better now that I've decided for unrelated reasons to simply lurk, not responding, assisting, or participating otherwise.
Obviously, you I will make an exception for.
