Goodbye and Thank you

I'd like to thank those of you who tried to help me. I know it would kill some of you for me to leave without saying goodbye so here it is. To the person that said I was like small minded people, you are correct. The portion of my brain that handles electricity, is very small. To the person who suggested I look up the things I don't understand, I only searched the first 25 results but I am positive a hertz rate is not 39.99 for the entire weekend. I will leave you all with final ideas. You are all extremely intelligent people and that is not debatable, but much like the people who run the american psychological association, you don't need to invent words for things that already exists. It was expected that someone who doesn't know the first thing about electronics would know what a hertz rate is. I researched it for an hour and I'm further away from knowing what it is now than I was before I started. We are talking about the frequency at which a light blinks. For a novice, maybe save them the hour of confusion and express yourself using flashes/sec or something that doesn't require me to delve into the internets twist and turns, eventually getting stuck in a web of porn. I work in the medical field and there is plenty of occupational vernacular we use with each other because it is technically correct but not to the public because they just want to understand what is going on and don't have our vocabulary in the field. Other than that, I came her with a very bad attitude, took my personal life out on the internet, was vulgar, and you guys accepted and helped me. Thank you.

1 Hertz == 1 pulse per second.

So 39 Hertz (normally abbreviated to 39Hz ) == 39 pulses per second.

etc

Good luck

Allan.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. This stuff is definitely not for everyone, you really need to have enough interest in the subject to push through the complexities and setbacks so it's probably best that you realized it's not your thing before spending much time on it.

I do agree that saying "ten blinks per second" is more beginner friendly than "10 hertz" but if you had made a real effort at researching the term hertz you would have quickly found the right definition. A simple search for word hertz will get you pages of car rental company results but if you had added any of the many other obvious keywords such as arduino, led, electronics, blinking, rate, time, etc. to the search you would have immediately had an answer. Developing the skill of effectively searching for information online is an essential skill.

I would contact the seller or manufacturer of the kit you bought and tell them you want to return it because the book contains a diagram showing an LED being used without a current limiting resistor. Don't worry about what that actually means, just know that it's definitely grounds for returning the kit.

Lots of physical units are named after famous scientists and engineers .

Newton, Faraday, Henry, Watt, Siemens, Pascal , Joule, Avagadro, Curie , Ohm , Einstein , Coulomb etc.

Heinrich Hertz was the first person to practically demonstrate the transmission and reception of radio waves.

About 1880.

An interesting guy - look in wikipedia.

Allan

How you get through vet school without learning what a hertz was? Didn't they make you take physics at some point?

Researching frequency in Hz on Google returns porn? Wow, I guess those LEDs are flashing something else lol.

I mean, I guess I see where those types of hits are possible if you happen to type in "frequency of stripper flashes in 'hertz'."

eventually getting stuck in a web of porn.

That can be a real PITA. When I get stuck in porn links it can be very hard to get back to my project.

Leaving the nonsense to one side - how could anyone get good grades in school and med college without learning to ask questions. Such as "what do you mean by 'Hertz'?

I reckon it would be far more productive than the rant at the top of this Thread.

Robin, many vets spend their entire lives with one arm up a cow's butt and the other feeding a plastic tube up her vagina. That does effect a person's attitude.

Paul

The world is your oyster. But, I guess with the way restaurants are noawadays, people expect it to come shelled, cleaned, and cooked.

I know what you mean. :o

Nice to see someone is awake

I'm surprised that guy could get into the porn without someone explaining to him exactly how to use the mouse to click on the thumbnails.

I've heard of some weird kinks, but thumbnails don't do anything for me!

So you know about synapses...
