GxEPD2's favorite 3.3V connection module is DESPI-C02

Topic created by Jean-Marc Zingg

There are many posts and topics concerning connection of e-paper displays to 3.3V processors such as ESP32 or ESP8266. For low power use any connection module with level converters should be avoided. Most Waveshare HATs and e-paper boards have level converters and use a "clever" reset circuit to enable total cut-off of the supply to the level converter and the display panel. But this causes additional issues and is the source of many complaints.

Good Display's DESPI-C02 connection module consumes no power by itself, it only consumes power when the controller drives the booster circuit (powerOn()). With the hibernate() method of GxEPD2 near zero power use is achieved.

Some e-paper panels need different connection modules. See HAT Adapter Board.
