Hardware option for 4G connectivity with Arduino Cloud

Any hint about which are the best options to have internet connectivity through 4G or 5G cellular network and to be able to connect my system (Arduino or ESP32) to Arduino cloud ? I'm currently working on a project where to have such a connectivity I use a 4G router and I connect to Arduino cloud connecting my processor via wifi to the router and jumping from there to internet, but I think that there must be more simple / suitable / cheap options....

Thanks very much for your help !

Joan

Hi @arduino1001xxx. Arduino recently introduced the "Pro 4G Module" as a 4G connectivity solution:

https://docs.arduino.cc/hardware/pro-4g-module/

You can connect the module to the Portenta family of boards using the Portenta Mid Carrier or Portenta Max Carrier.

Support for Device connectivity via the Pro 4G Module hasn't yet been added for Arduino Cloud, but Arduino does plan to provide such support for the combination of the Portenta H7 board and Pro 4G Module, so it is worth watching for news about this if you find this hardware of interest.

Thanks very much for your reply. I saw a post on this module where it was stated that right now it was not compatible with Arduino cloud. This is why I was asking for some solution compatible with this cloud....

Hi @arduino1001xxx we are working on the Pro 4G module support. You can follow this PRs

@arduino1001xxx everything should be ready for the Pro 4G module support

Thanks for the good news! Just double checking that the C33 is also supported to connect to Cloud and trigger IoT dashboards? Because here it is not (yet) listed: IoT Cloud Compatible — Arduino Official Store

My hardware setup is Portenta C33 + Portenta Mid carrier + Arduino Pro 4G Module EMEA.

Dashboards and triggers could depend on your IoT plan, not sure about this.

OTA on C33 is not supported yet.

Hi Pennam,
Any planned release date already when OTA will be supported for C33?

Thank you

Hi @nilsjuri i do not have a release date but it is in the backlog.

Thanks Pennam for the swift reply!
If it can be prioritized, would be great because I have just upgraded my cloud subscription that now includes OTA

Hi Pennam,
Is there now already a planned release date in the backlog for C33 OTA support?
I would highly appreciate

Thanks and best regards,
Nils

Hi,
Any news on OTA support for C33 soon?

Thanks
