Hi
I need female header pins like the pins of the UNO
that host the shield .

Where can I buy such pins ?
Thanks

You want 2.54mm (0.1") pitch single-row female headers. You can find 92 pages of options at DigiKey.com. Probably a similar number at Mouser.com.
Thanks
Also found many at Ebay .

I suggest these guys:
Put some crazy cheap MAX7219s and shift registers on your order as well!

Note that 40-pin female header strips don't snap apart like most male header strips. If you want smaller sections you will need to cut them with a saw. You will destroy a pin with each cut so you need to adjust for that wen calculating how many strips you need. For example, if you need 10-pin strips you can only get 3 of them from a 40-pin header.

Stackable Header Kit 20x 8-pin & 20x 6-pin 0.1 (Total 10 Arduino Shields) - dipmicro electronics 20 pieces each 6 & 8 pin
I searched this weekend at mouser, I don't believe they carry them.
Digikey lists Samtec headers, but none in stock, long lead time, expensive.
Sparkfun also carries them as sets.

Those are long-pin stacking headers. The original poster wanted solder-in headers like the ones on the Arduino. Of course you could solder in the stacking headers and cut off the excess length but if you are manufacturing something for wave soldering that would add an extra manual step.

Thank you for pointing that out since I didn't.
I do this constantly. I cut some down last night to get them down to 8 pins for "sockets" for 8x8 LED matrices which have 2 rows of 8 .1" spaced pins. Personally, I just use the wire snips, they work great and cut cleanly on these exact header strips which I did buy from Tayda. You do lose a pin. I can live with that.

The Arduino store has them under the "components" section in 6/8/10 long strips, for instance; Arduino Official Store | Boards Shields Kits Accessories
I use the same technique and I use an emory board to sand off the rough edges caused by the cut. the reason for the emory boards is that they are stiff and flat, makes placing them end to end possible, neatly with squared off ends. Each 6 or 8 pin Arduino header is about .5 mm too long to fit end to end on 2.54 mm centers.
