Hi, ive been trying to make a receiver and transmissor work, with no results. I read a lot of discussions about it from the internet, and tried the most common solutions (checking connections, adding antennas, different distance, turning off electronics, etc). I used mostly Radiohead, tried a lot of the common example codes i found, did some of my own too, with no result either. Lastly, i tried the example codes with the Virtual Wire library. In codes where theres a verification of the initialization, everything seems fine, but the receiver never received anything. At the moment i cant try with different modules. What can i try to see if theyre working? I only want to make them work for now, send and receive a simple message.
Test the code without the radios by connecting a wire between the TX data pin on the transmitting Arduino to the RX data pin on the receiving Arduino, and GND to GND.
The point of doing that test is to start isolating the problem.
One or both modules might be failing, or the code that you forgot to post is incorrect. Please follow the forum rules for posting the code used at both ends, and clearly describe what happens when you run it. The phrase "finally got something" is not particularly helpful.
From the photo of the transmitter, if the red wire going off to the right is your antenna, it looks like it is connected to a ground pad and not the ant terminal.
Antenna is on the above picture most left, down contact. Add a wire of typically 17cm to it.
Also on the receiver. If the have the pins down and look from the back side, the antenna is again the most left, bottom contact.
I did bought 3 units ( I alway buy a few, as transport in general is more expensive than the parts. The are quite robust and all work fine. The receiver is not extremely sensitive. The transmitter at 5V is not very powerfull, so you can bridge a few meters. The transmitter can be used with power I think up to 12V ( please check the data-sheet )
I use the receiver to read domotica signals. Then I send the signals out again with the transmitter. That way I can control lights in an existing domotica application.
