High intensity RGB LED for fiber optics

I'm looking for recommendations on lighting fiber optics for a sculpture I'm working on. In my last project, I used these as a RGB light source: Amazon.com to illuminate 5mm fiber from here: Side-Glow Fiber Optics – The Fiber Optic Store I used a short length black of 5mm black silcone tubing to connect the end of the light to the fiber optic. The result was "OK" but not nearly as bright along the length of the fiber as I had hoped. For the current project I'm planning to use 2 or 3mm fiber, and would like the glow to be much brighter. Can someone suggest some components? Thanks

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I'm planning to have 4-6 separate fibers, each 3-4 feet long, and individually illuminated.

Hello Elby,

I am guessing here as not an optical specialist. I would anticipate that your problem is coupling light into the fibre.
I would suggest trying (just one to start with) using something like clear epoxy to optically couple the LED to the fibre optic. Possibly wrap the joint in something relective such as aluminium foil.
[BTW the link to the fibre optic store was stopped by my anti-virus].
Let us know how you get on please.
