Has anyone used the HM-10?

I am setting it up as I would the HM-05. (So like this: http://www.instructables.com/id/Cheap-2-Way-Bluetooth-Connection-Between-Arduino-a/)
None of my devices are able to recognize it (as in, nothing appears when I search for BT devices). For all I know, it might as well be dead. Right now, I am trying to get it to run with the minimum configuration: i.e. 3.3v at pin 12 and GND at pin 13. I have also tried pulling pin 23 high and pulling it low (the datasheet is very scarce on instructions there...)
Has anyone got this to pair with any other BT device?
Any suggestions what to try?
