I am just starting on lesson 2, it says I need the battery, but it gives no clue as to how it is incorporated. Any hints? tips? suggestions? advice? please
The image of the starter kit
includes a picture of a 9V "smoke alarm style" battery connector, so I'd presume you need to provide a 9V battery, plug it into that connector, and use it's leads to connect to, perhaps, the breadboard? I don't have such a kit, nor do I have any interest in reading the instructions, so I'm just guessing.
At this point it appears you have no experience in electronics and found something that looks like fun. The most important part of your kit is missing, it is called the Arduino Cookbook, it will show you how to do many projects complete with instructions and code. It is a MUST HAVE for someone starting down the Arduino path. Skim it and try some of the projects.
Get a 9V power supply, they are inexpensive and available from Walmart for less then $10.00 US. This will plug into the Arduino barrel connector and pay for itself from the savings in the batteries you will not have to purchase.
Hi @pejic.
You created your topic in the forum's Kits > Starter Kit category, which is for discussions related to the official Arduino Starter Kit:
The Arduino Starter Kit comes with an "Arduino Projects Book", which provides a series of projects you can create with the kit. Project 02 in the book ("Spaceship Interface") does not make any mention of a battery.
This leads me to believe you are either using a different kit, or referring to something other than the Arduino Projects Book when you say "lesson 2".
Please provide a detailed description of the kit you are using in a reply here on this forum topic. If you purchased the kit online, you can provide a link to the product listing you made the purchase from.
Please also tell us exactly where you found this "lesson 2". If you found it online, provide a link to the lesson.
Sorry, it is actually the student kit.
Thankyou Brazilino, much appreciated. :
