So after fixing some issues in my library, when i tried to install the library from arduino ide, its still not updated, i want know how to update my library?. Here is my github project link: GitHub - dayatkun01/ClearDS1302: Library that focus on ease-of-use and make sure beginner can use this. . Very sorry for messy english, english is not my main languange. Any reply appreciated!
Your English is good enough to understand the problem.
It might be needed to close ALL instances of the IDE when updating a library to flush cached versions of the code.
You can always do a manual update by downloading the zip file from GitHub and (re)move the previous version. Then you need to close ALL instances of the IDE and restart them too.
Hi @dayatkuno.
Did you do that via the Arduino IDE Library Manager?
By this, do you mean that the latest version 1.0.2 of the library was not listed in Library Manager?
Thx for saying that.
You right. When i try to install the library today, i found it updated. Thx for you reply!
Yes.
Yes but now its updated.
OK, great. There is some delay between the time you make a new release of the library and when that release becomes available for installation from Library Manager.
There are two components to this
- indexing
- local index update
Indexing
Library Manager is populated by the data provided by an "index" file that is hosted by Arduino. The index file is generated by a custom too that is run via a scheduled job.
Each time the job runs, all the repositories of all the registered libraries are checked for new releases, and entries are added to the index for any release that meets the requirements for inclusion in Library Manager.
So the availability of a new release is delayed for the period of time between the release and the completion of the next scheduled run of the indexing job.
Local Index Update
Arduino IDE periodically downloads the Library Manager index file from the Internet. You will only see new releases in your Library Manager after it has downloaded the updated copy of the file to your computer.
As long as you haven't disabled the automatic update checks in your Arduino IDE advanced settings, the update will happen as a matter of course within a matter of hours.
However, if you would like to trigger an immediate download of the latest version of the index, you can do that by the following procedure:
- Press the Ctrl+Shift+P keyboard shortcut (Command+Shift+P for macOS users) to open the "Command Palette".
- Select the "Arduino: Update Library Index" command from the menu.
A notification will appear at the bottom right corner of the Arduino IDE window to indicate the progress of downloading the index file. - Wait for the index file download process to finish.
