I can't add Uno R4 Wifi board to arduino cloud

I'm trying to add a device (the Uno R4 Wifi board) to the arduino cloud. I'm using google chrome and windows 11.

At first, everything seemed to go well. While adding the device, the wifi board was recognised as such and I was able to select it. Then it told me to install the Arduino Cloud Agent, which I did (succesfully it seems). Then I got back to adding the wifi board. It told me something needed to be updated (I wasn't paying close attention to what it was, because I wasn't given any choice whether to do it or not) and it told me it could take a few minutes. After a few minutes it suddenly stopped (if I remember it well, this was because connection was lost). I was back to where I started.
Then I tried to do the process of adding the device again, but failed at the first step. When it says 'connect board to your computer', it shows an 'unknown board' with USB port COM6. If I click this, a message appears 'We could not find any Arduino device'. (See added pictures)
Also, on the wifi board itself something seemes to be wrong. When everything was still working the 'on-light' was green and a heart shape was visible on the LED matrix. Ever since the first error, whenever I connect the wifi board to my laptop, I only see the green 'on-light' and the RX-light quikly blinking orange.

I already checked if the cloud agent is still running and this seems to be the case.

I also tried to reset the board by clicking the reset button twice, but nothing seems to happen.

I hope someone can suggest tricks to help me fix this, let me know if you need more information.

This is confusing, first you say it is working, but then this

If it was working, why add it again?
Hopefully that redundant add didn't mess up anything.
Yes, there is a lengthy update that must be completed. I am not sure if interrupting it can cause any permanent damage but I doubt it.
Can you get back to step 0? No boards installed in the cloud? Leave the agent running; there is no reason to ever shut it down. Now do a board install and pay attention to those pesky pop-ups, tey can be critically important.
Good luck.

Just an FYI, here is a link to the official cloud setup instructions. They must be done in the correct order so to redo you need to delete the Device and Thing.

Thanks for your quick response.
The way I see it, the adding of a device takes a few steps, first step is selecting the board you want to install. The first time I tried this was possible. The next step was installing the cloud agent. Then came the update, and that was where it suddenly stopped. So the board wasn't yet installed.
So I am indeed back to step 0, with no boards installed in the cloud. And, with the agent running, it can't find the board I am trying to install and it gives me the messages I showed in the pictures in my first message.
And the orange RX-light keeps blinking, does that suggest any errors?

I tried to follow the steps, but it gives me the following message:

The very first time I tried this, I could get to the step where I had to configure the device, as shown in this picture. After I clicked 'configure', it started the update where it crashed. I did not get to the next step where I would have to choose a name

So there is NO Thing and NO Board?
Have you put the board into bootloader mode? (double reset)
Here's how to change the Arduino Uno R4 WiFi boot mode:

  1. Open the Arduino IDE: Launch the Arduino IDE on your computer.
  2. Connect your board: Connect the Arduino Uno R4 WiFi to your computer using a USB cable.
  3. Enter bootloader mode:
  • Double-press the reset button on the board. This action will trigger the bootloader and activate the orange LED to fade in and out.
  • The board will now be in a state where it's ready to receive a new sketch or firmware.

Correct, no thing and no board.

I downloaded the Arduino IDE and connected the Uno R4 WiFi to my computer with a USB cable. Then I double-pressed the reset button, but nothing happened: just the green light that stayed on and the orange RX-light that continued blinking like it does all the time.
Then I thought that maybe I should add the device in this app as well. My board was recognised as 'Adafruit QT Py ESP32-C3' (I know this is my device, because I know it uses the COM6 port, I just don't know why it has this weird name). So I installed all the things required to connect my board (the IDE did this for me automatically). Then I tried double-pressing de reset button, but still nothing visually changed.
I hope it is somewhat clear to you what I just did, and that it doesn't make things more complicated. Thank you so much for trying to help me

If you go off on your own and don't do exactly as requested then it is impossible to help. You have to get back to ZERO. I though the board was a genuine Arduino UNO R4 WiFi. Perhaps take a CLEAR picture of the front and back of the board to prove what it is. The 'QT Py ESP32-C3' is NOT the same as 'Arduino UNO R4 WiFi'

You MUST press the button very quickly. keep trying for a few tries or until you see the light pattern change as I said in post #6.

I also tried adding the board while I used my phone's hotspot, because my wifi router has both 2,4GHz and 5GHz, while my phone's hotspot only uses 2,4GHz band. But I still could not add my board, so this was probably not the problem.

Good thinking re 5gHz, now follow the instructions per post #3 after removing any old Thing or Device.

Sorry for the confusion. I am a 100% sure it is a genuine Arduino UNO R4 WiFi, it came with the Arduino plug and make kit. I don't know why it my computer constantly thinks it is a different board, also in the first picture I showed in post #5, it is detected as being an LilyGo T-Display-S3 (no idea what that is). See picture for proof:

I am also back to zero, I uninstalled everything I did install and I have no boards or things.
I did the instructions from post #3 again with the 2.4GHz hotspot, but I got the same message as shown in first picture post #5.

Did you allow the firmware update to finish? I have the same board here. I have no need for the cloud but I will go through the same exercise to determine if it is a systemic problem or a single user.

The update didn't finish, because while it was updating it stopped, saying that connection was lost or something like that. I also tried to do the whole process on my old laptop, but it still could not find my board when I tried to add the device.

First my apologies, the Arduino documentation is in error but I think you already figured out the correct steps. Here are the screen grabs at key points in my successful run. The only problem is I am not sure if the Agent was running before hand or not, I think it was NOT but the Agent Installer went nowhere so I just launched the agent manually and everything took off after that. I didn't think the agent was that critical, obviously I was wrong. Here is the proof it works as per the link in post #3.

This next step is important.

NOTE the 5 min warning

While the updates are runing, watch the tiny RX and TX lights next to the L light in front of the 6 pin male HDR in front of the USB-C connector. They stand for Transmit/Receive and should flicker while any updates or IoT prep are happening. If this fails, let me know aboiut the state of those lights durig those two steps.

Hi! Since it was impossible to do any updates on the cloud or IDE, I tried to do it with espflash, explained in the following link:
https://support.arduino.cc/hc/en-us/articles/16379769332892-Restore-the-USB-connectivity-firmware-on-UNO-R4-WiFi-with-espflash
This way, it was finally possible to do the update. Now I succesfully added the board to de cloud!
Thank you for all the suggestions on how to solve my problem.
