Help! Uno R4 Wifi on cloud. Are we sure it can be on the cloud? :)

Hi,

I've spent hours trying to get my genuine Arduino Uno R4 Wifi onto the Arduino cloud. The cloud agent is running on my Mac, and when I go to add a device from the Iot Cloud app (app.arduino.cc) it sees that I have the Arduino Uno R4 Wifi connected to my Macbook. A couple times it even asked me what name I want to give the Device. But then I've never been able to get past Step 3, "Configuring Secure Element."

One time last night it seemed to get through all three steps. But I haven't been able to reproduce the steps to get that to happen again.

One time I think I was getting close, because it threw an error I hadn't seen before:
Reset before upload: 1200-bps touch: opening port at 1200bps: Serial port busy

After restarting the Arduino Cloud agent and reconnecting the board, it just hung at "Establishing Secure Element."

I also re-flashed the board based on this article: https://support.arduino.cc/hc/en-us/articles/16379769332892-Restore-the-USB-connectivity-firmware-on-UNO-R4-WiFi-with-espflash

This is very frustrating. Does anyone have any advice? It doesn't seem it should be this difficult.

Have you looked at the outstanding issues on github for that board? I am still not using it as I see too many issues still. Also check your Agent ver, here is mine on my Mac

I had a failure with the R4. I also had a bad CERT. I uninstalled and installed the CERT and voila it asked for a name. It failed again so I retried. It eventually worked.

Thanks. I'll try re-doing the certs.

So what is the best (most reliable to setup/use) Arduino board for using the Arduino cloud?

I have had no problems with NANO and ESP32

Thanks.

Yeah, the more I look around online the more I see that Arduino just missed the mark on IoT with Uno R4 Wifi. Too bad because generally I like the Uno boards.
