i have connected the arduino to the computer, installed the cloud agent, the icon is white , the software says install agent when it is allready, ive never had so much trouble , but never have i used the new cloud system before. win 10, 2h22, usb cable - no interface usb to the computer, com6 . tried installing uninstalling, restarting the computer, Run sfc no errors,
This is a community forum, I don't know if there is an Arduino tech support site.
You might want to read the forum guide in the sticky post to ensure you have included everything needed to help you. For example which model of Arduino.
its an eleven i have used it with this computer in the past, just not this cloud software, it was all local. issue is the agent can not be recognised from the cloud software , so it would not matter what arduino is was trying to use, the help system is useless , saying uninstall and reinstall .
TY for making me happier to run the offline IDE and not use “The Cloud” at all.
You are mistaken. The cloud agent supports only limited list of boards.
So the type of Arduino could matter.
Hi @peterr123. I'm going to ask you to run Arduino Cloud Agent from the command line, then post the output in a reply here.
This procedure is not intended to solve the problem. The purpose is to gather more information.
Please do this:
- If Arduino Cloud Agent is running, terminate it by clicking the Arduino icon in the Windows "notification area" and then selecting "Quit Agent" from the menu.
- Right click the Windows "Start" button.
A context menu will open. - Select "Search" from the menu.
The Windows "Start" menu will open with a search field selected. - Type
windows powershell isein the search field. - Select "Windows PowerShell ISE" from the search results.
A "Windows PowerShell ISE" window will open. - Type the following command in the Windows PowerShell ISE window:
& "$Env:APPDATA\ArduinoCloudAgent\Arduino_Cloud_Agent.exe" 2>&1 | Out-String -Stream; if (-not $?) {& "$Env:APPDATA\ArduinoCreateAgent\Arduino_Create_Agent.exe" 2>&1 | Out-String -Stream} - Press the Enter key.
- Repeat the operation in Arduino Cloud, just as you did before when you encountered the problem.
- Switch back to the "Windows PowerShell ISE" window.
- Select Edit > Select All from the Windows PowerShell ISE menus.
All the text in the terminal panel of the window will be selected. - Select Edit > Copy from the Windows PowerShell ISE menus.
This will copy the selected text to the clipboard. - Open a reply here on this forum topic by clicking the "Reply" button.
- Click the
<CODE/>icon on the post composer toolbar.
This will add the forum's code block markup (```) to your reply to make sure the error messages are correctly formatted.
- Press the Ctrl+V keyboard shortcut.
This will paste the output into the code block. - Move the cursor outside of the code block markup before you add any additional text to your reply.
- Click the "Reply" button to publish the post.
Please let us know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.
Hey CAN you tell a bit about your board
I don't think the board is relevant.
The message @peterr123 is seeing happens when the Arduino Cloud webpage can not communicate with the Arduino Cloud Agent application that is running on @peterr123's PC. This communication is not affected by the attached board. When the system is working correctly, communication works fine even if you don't have any board at all attached to your computer. Likewise, even if you have a board that is not supported for use with Arduino Cloud connected to your computer, it should not interfere with the communication between the web page and Cloud Agent.
Cloud Agent does indeed interact with the connected board (it serves as a "bridge" between the web page and the board's port). So it is theoretically possible for the board to be a factor. However, in that rare case I would expect the problem to be Cloud Agent crashing, which would result in the icon disappearing from the Windows notification area.
The more likely explanation is that something about @peterr123's system is blocking the communication between the web page and Cloud Agent. Unfortunately that can be difficult to troubleshoot. I am hoping the logs produced when running Cloud Agent from the command line might provide a clue.
