The topic says it all pretty much. If what I am doing bothers you then call your congressman and tell him the polite Canadians are treating you badly. It's very sad when you consider how Canada and Gander in particular came to the aid of thousands of Americans on 911. If you don't know that story which is all to likely, look up '911 Gander'. Look for the documentary by Al Michaels interviewing Tom Brokaw at the Vancouver Olympics where Canada got the most Gold Medals. Be sure to read some of the comments after the video.Video
EDIT: After considerable feedback and some very good points, I am withdrawing my withholding. At the time I posted this, I had just listened to the orange one ranting about making us the 51st state.
Give it a few more weeks and you will have more reasons to hate us....
Your support will be missed, you did a good job.
What you are doing is your choice, I do not care either way.
Curious how do you know if somebody is from the USA?
Yeah, THAT'S THE TICKET! Blame all citizens of a country undergoing a fascist coup for the coup!
We're ALL THE SAME!
BTW, the forum does have a Canadian who is Pro-Trump and as anti-liberal as the average MAGA Texan.
IMO Canada should get the needed funds to meet the NATO quota by raising prices for resources! What happens when you give your buddy-buddy neighbors generous deals and then they turn on you for not spending enough on arms? Make em PAY! Sell dear to their competition and weapon up but be sure to buy arms from Someone Else!
Kick Elon in the nuts, sanction his no-good EV's. PLEASE!
So will you continue to support aliens living in the US but not citizens?
Will it depend if they are documented or not?
What about people with dual citizenship?
Looking at this from where I live (The Netherlands), I feel sorry for you both. Both will suffer from value being taxed away.
I feel like the US currently get's stolen by people with more money than good for them, but in fact you are blaming victims, whose country is getting snagged.
Heck I will even support Russians if they post a question here. I don't think they had a fair chance to decide their own future.
To help you avoid any psychic harm arising from unknowingly assisting someone in a 'special' class I hereby remove any doubt.

Good one! ![]()
Thanks, but this is one of my not better ideas. It would be very hard to determine citizenship or residency.
Agreed, one of my worst ideas ever.
I know, in case you missed it, a bunch like him, mostly from the western provinces, occupied downtown Ottawa during the winter of 21/22. We have RED provinces and BLUE provinces as well.
I actually agree with TRUMP, Canada should pay its fair share. I even think it should be done with a surtax on income tax with a sliding low-income exemption and an increasing tax for the wealthy. Adding a NATO tax to all the oil we sell at a discount to the USA would be a sweet way to also raise money.
OK, I get it, I acted in haste after watching the orange one go on and on about seizing our country (and his grounds are fallacious)
I made a mistake, and I am rescinding my ill considered statement.
Agreed, my post was done in haste due to my anger over Trump's statement about making us the 51st state. I am withdrawing my ill conceived post.
Your reaction was totally understandable. I'm glad you realize we are not all like the Orange Felon and have reconsidered.
That's the thing. USA has been getting a free ride on gas and oil and minerals, which side of the deal the Orange A-hole ignores while acting as if there's one side to the matter.
Canada has begun more equitable trade elsewhere and my hope is that there will be a surplus that pays for military spending and tax cuts for Canadians. Such an example might just change attitudes down here for the better.
Trump never ever presents whole truth. He's a pig.
Us average citizens in Canada are hoping this most recent incident will actually make our politicians remove the inter-provincial trade barriers the first being trucking which hurts us a lot. Also, we need to be smarter and not place so much trust/dependence on the USA. Opening up more trade with Mexico, Central America, South America, and Europe will make us safer. I understand ity will also raise prices a small amount, but that is the price of freedom.
Our deadline for the NATO share is ludicrous, we should escalate that to 2026 ot 27 even if we need a surtax on our income tax.
Half of my blood came from NB through NS.
Transportation of goods may add to the cost. I'm totally ignorant of how Canada gets its foreign shipments now.
Most of them come by truck across the US border. That is why the section of highway between Buffalo and Toronto is the busiest in the world. I recognize there will be an inceased cost for shipping from Central and Southern America as well as Europe, but done at scale that is trivial, just look at all the stuff from China. I get almost weekly shipments from China and the cost is 1/10 to 1/2 the Amazon cost. It can be done BUT as I said elsewhere the small extra cost is the price of freedom.
