I think my best bet is to just operate the drone at 57kHz so I don't cause too much interference. Also, at least until I have a better understanding of how all of the components work together.
If I am using this outside is there a way to filter out ambient light with a band pass filter?
These receivers have built in "limited" indoor in sun filtering.
Outdoor sun light is intense and made up of all frequencies, thus getting by the limited indoor filtering.
It is my guess the "Receivers" are made to operate at 38KHz not 57Khz.
IR summarize (assume 940nm):
There are three things going on here:
The transmit IR LED emits a 940nm (light) frequency, which is then turned on and off at a 38KHz rate, and then your Arduino modulates this 38Khz, ON for a period of time and totally OFF for a period of time thus creating a binary one or zero.
