LED bulb diffuser for breadboard use?

(I apologize if this isn't the correct section for this type of question. I haven't seen another that would be better.)

When working with RGB 5mm LEDs on the breadboard, I find it much easier to view the bulb with a ping pong ball, which helps diffuse and show the actual colors better. It's rather bulky, so I was wondering if there is a better/smaller, cheap, solution? (I'd prefer not to buy a 50 box of mini balls.)

It's not exactly a diffuser and I've never tried it with an RGB but I've used cliplites to mount LEDs in front panels for many years. (An unmounted LED will snap-into it.)

Great question.
I use ping-ping balls, or larger LEDs, but Iā€™d love a small, cheap diffuser.

You have to be careful, because some multicolour LEDs project the chip displacement,so a true diffuser is important!

I have used a small dab of hot glue.

Beat me to it. The clear hot glue is a great diffuser. One can carve it or work it to the shape required.

Great! I'll give hot glue a try.

I have also used a layer or two of tissue paper (Kleenex, TP).

Sand paper.

I also like hot glue. You can mold it into little diffuser shapes if you want, rather than permanently gooping up your board.

Also, paper... Like a little piece of post-it note.

Some use blue tack...... I tend to lower the current down to a couple of mA.
