Most important item, have fun!! First get a copy of the Arduino cookbook then Consider spending a few extra dollars and get a module assortment, be sure to get it where you can get the documentation, some will even give you links to the appropriate libraries or supply them on there website as well. Then get a Multimeter, an inexpensive one is OK for starting. You should also get one of the 24Mhz logic analyzers generally under $10 + shipping. I purchased several as you can blow them if you connect to 12V. An extra Ardino or two will not hurt.
