Liquid Crystal not working

I have been trying to do the following tutorial

The sketch uploads fine but then nothing happens with the lcd,

Please let me know if you can spot what i'm doing wrong.

Cheers.

I can't tell if everything is hooked up properly.

If it is, try adjusting the pot

Though to be honest, it doesn't look like your LCD isn't even powered up.

Thank you for your reply.

You are right it's not plugged at the moment but nothing happens even when it's plugged in.
I tried the pot thing and still nothing.
I included the photo so maybe someone can spot something.

Thanks anyway.

I do not see any 5V wire coming from the Arduino to the breadboard.

Watch some internet tutorials on soldering. The joints should look clean and even.

Good luck. Improve the soldering and connect the wires properly. I am sure you will get it working.

David.

Thank's,i'll try to improve my solder.

OK, we really need a useful photo.

In other words, a perfectly focused photograph of your set-up with all wires and parts clearly visible as they terminate on the modules and show that as a link in the text, not an attachment.

The best way to do this is to take it outside in full daylight but not direct sun and use a digital camera at least a metre away from directly above (or very slightly offset to ensure all the connections are able to be distinguished) using the (actual) zoom to just include all parts of the assembly.

Even with a good photograph it's not too easy to follow two adjacent wires of the same color, especially when they are twisted together or there is one directly above the other at some point.

Did you connect power (5V)?
Did you power backlight?
Did you adjust contrast?
