MAC OSX Plugin Not detected

Hello,

I’m running Chrome and Firefox on a Mac OSX (Yosemite) but the plugin is not detected. I have the black icon in the top bar, but in the IDE doesn’t see it.

I have restarted the computer just in case without success.

Hi!
a couple of questions:

  • did you just install the plugin from scratch?
  • if you click on the block icon in your top bar you will see the version number (it is greyed out), what is it?

We just noticed you are accessing Create from HTTPS, unfortunately this feature is still in the works and we are going to release the full HTTPS support in the next couple of weeks.

Please access Arduino Create from http://create-staging.arduino.cc/ide/#/home

Let us know if this solves the problem.

I had this same problem, but when I clicked the Arduino Create icon in my top toolbar and clicked "Go to Arduino Create (staging)", I was taken to the web interface and everything is now working as expected.

Are you guys entering the HTTPS manually or clicking a link somewhere?

You were right!

Entering http://create-staging.arduino.cc seems to work. It now detects the plugin.

About the link in the plugin icon:

In my setup if I click on the icon and select Go to Arduino (staging) it opens Safari by default which is not supported.

Yep, it opens up your default browser, we should fix that until we support Safari.

Thanks!

In my case, clicking the icon and "Go to Arduino Create (staging)" opens up my default browser (Chrome) and the URL by default is http://create-staging.arduino.cc/ide/ . When I click for more information in the URL bar, Chrome tells me that my connection is not private or encrypted to the page, which I expected.

I also had much trouble getting Firefox on OS X to see that ArduinoCreateAgent.app was installed and running.

The first issue was with the https path. The link that was sent in the invite email was 'https://':
https://create-staging.arduino.cc/#/redeem/...

The second issue was that I couldn't see that the Agent was running. My system is set to use the Dark menu bar and Dock - the ArduinoCreateAgent.app does not show an icon on the main display with the Dark menu, it does show on the non-active display menu, so I finally figured out that it was running, and the Agent took me to the http:// pages.

Also - I generally use Safari when browsing. The ArduinoCreateAgent.app seems to look to see what the System setting for default browser is. It would be helpful to have the Agent be able to choose its' browser independently of the system.

Our plans are to support every modern browser in the long run, so we will probably stick with the system default browser.

Fixed now, sorry for the typo. HTTPS is coming really soon BTW!

Opening a bug on this
