Hi,
I quick question about the antennae that I need to make for this module. What material shall i make the wire out of and shall I insulate it too? Also, what would the ideal lewngth be?
Many thanks,
Tom.
The actual ideal length, for maximum signal, will vary slightly between each LoRa module.
But a simple wire of 1/4 wavelength will work well in most situations.
Copper wire, about 17 cm long for 433 MHz.
A "sleeve dipole" works reliable and is relatively easy to construct. If you see a 3" stick on a WiFi device (router), then there is most likely a sleeve dipole inside.
Get some thin 50 ohm coaxial wire with braided copper shield (RG58U ?).
Remove about 22cm of the outer insulation, and push the braid back over the cable.
Trim the braid and inner part of the coax to 17cm each.
Put 35cm heat shrink over it, to keep it in place.
Google "sleeve dipole" (images).
Leo..
alright, thank you all for the help, tremendously appreciated!
