Just been informed that there is no point me being a moderator any more by Alessandro.
So this maybe a goodbye post.
Just want to thank all of you who helped and supported me in trying to help the community.
I will be sad to get BOOTED after all this time but I don't appear to have any recourse.
Think you all know who has been instrumental in this.
Just so sorry I will probably not be able to raise issues anywhere but the forum itself.
Wish you all luck getting any improvements from here on out.
"User advocate" was a self title. There are many examples of my involvement for the betterment of the forum and its foibles to be able to make things easier for "users" to get around the forum.
The "no point" reference has some background to it that is probably too long to go into in here.
And I will not be posting any details.
Some of the moderators have an idea but I would suggest they don't use PM's except external methods if they are going to talk about it.
As to any "review" process it appears there will be no review and it is not like I was an employee so it will be what it will be.
OMG! Sounds like my experience at at&t where all forms of communication were subject to interception.
Anyway, you could just stay on as a joe-user, there seem to be plenty of "intelligent" work effort required to keep "newbies" from following the piper over the cliff edge.
One of those involved in my ousting had directly read / accessed some of my PM's and there is zero guarantee that with his level of powers that it will not happen again.
I had a similar problem working for a US company, where snooping on emails is / was apparently allowed.
However, my contract of employment was drafted under European law.
Someone got a smacked botty (the someone wasn't me)
But he was the one reading private emails seeing as his link does not work !
Some of us stopped using the PM's for conversations as we suspected he was running tattle tale back to @alranel
Kept the conversation so I can refer back to it LOL..
The reason they give me is because I banned "SPAMMERS" rather than just mute them.
There seems to be a growing world-wide belief that rule-breakers, no matter the offense, cannot be severely punished; rather, they must be shown tempered justice even if such temperament must be repeated until the judge no longer has authority to issue a lower sentence.
Obviously the forum gods are heavily leaning toward the repeat offender thinking. Personally, considering the nature of this "support" forum and the considerable number of young, impressionable and novice members, I would think that banning spammers would be the most sensible action.
PS: they may have taken away your "super powers" but you can keep your suit & cape:
