Several of the more powerful and IoT Arduino platforms currently run on top of MBed.
I'm not sure exactly how this (which I think mainly ends the MBed online site and removes ARM as a contributor to the open source MBed software) will affect the Arduino platforms.
To be fair, I have no idea how much ARM contributes to Mbed now.
IIRC, it started out as an NXP thing, and ARM got involved to propagate the idea to multiple vendors. (It was essentially NXP's answer to Arduino, back when it was more a collection of libraries than an OS.)
hi
The planned discontinuation of MBed in July 2026, which involves ending the MBed online platform and reducing ARM's involvement in its open-source software, could have implications for several IoT platforms, including those based on Arduino. While Arduino platforms that currently leverage MBed for higher-performance functionality may need to adapt to alternative solutions, this shift also opens up opportunities for community-driven development and the adoption of other embedded operating systems. It's essential for developers to stay informed about potential changes and explore migration paths well in advance to ensure continued compatibility and support.
I moved your topic to an appropriate forum category as you posted under the French speaking category.
In the future, please take some time to pick the forum category that best suits the subject of your topic. There is an "About the _____ category" topic at the top of each category that explains its purpose.
This is an important part of responsible forum usage, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide. The guide contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
PS: that's a weird first post for a new comer. Could you elaborate on why you posted that ? are you a future spammer ?
I know this is an old thread, but since it was bumped, I'll add a link to a statement from Arduino on the subject in case any interested parties didn't see it already:
I am not directly involved in the work on creating a Zepyr-based core and don't possess any special information about the subject, but I did notice that Arduino is doing some work in this fork that looks relevant:
For my project, because I'm making so much use of mbed APIs, I suspect Zephyr won't be on my roadmap. I'm currently exploring Mbed Community Edition · GitHub. It looks like it has legs and I'm hoping using some Arduino facilities won't be a blocker.
