Hey all, im not new to arduino or this forum, but i am new to this MH-ET LIVE timy88 board. I have 3 boards, 2 brand new(not touched) and one that has been used by a friend. I can not, for the kife of me get it too upload code. I have no clue which bootloader it has if it has one at all(optiboot/micronucleus) im using windows11. Windows doesnt even make a sound when pluging it in, and there nothing in device manager. Im guessing its a clone of some sort. Iv downloaded the latest micronucleus, install the libusb0 via an 3rd party installer(the name eludes me) iv installed the MH-ET LIVE BOARD as well as the attinycore board fir arduino ide. The attinycore just give me an error code, and the live board just sits on "please plug in device" im guessing either the busb drivers dont play nice with windows 11 or the bootloader needs updating or replaced with a newer version via isp which i have not clue on how to do it, i fo have and uno and mega o could use for uploaded a new bootloader. Does anyone have any advice ?
I am not familiar with that board but from what I find it is probably Nano compatible with the old bootloader. The picture I saw had a USBC connector. Try setting the IDE to Nano and try both, if they do not work another would be the UNO.
I tried that earlier with no luck. I'm guessing the bootloader is faulty or incompatible with windows 11. Alas I have no other os to use/try
Do you have an old machine, if so load Linux and see if that does it for you. You can also load linux with windows and have a duel boot.
Would a live usb ver of linux mint work?
I am using mint 20.3 on this machine and have it on other machines from 18 through 21.???. I have had no problems with it. My machines are all AMD based and several years old. They just keep on running. One of them does not have USB so I added a card for that.
There is no way to be sure other then try it. So far I have not had to look for any drivers etc. There is a querk, it is a protected OS and you need permission. You will have to join the 'dialout' group, just a few simple commands already posted here and if needed I can post again. Once you get it up play with workspaces and workspace switcher, after that I think windoze will collect dust.
Thank you all for replying, iv managed to get it working by moving my cable from the usb3 port and using the usb2 port. Don't know why that works but hey. This post can be closed now.
The tiny88 steps to upload are:
- Unplug the tiny88 USB (yes, unplug)
- "Upload" the sketch (yes, start the upload)
- When you see "insert USB" (or something like that) insert tiny88 USB
- Now you will hear the system chime
- Upload will finish.
- tiny88 should be running.
It's not necessary to unplug the board.
Possible just to press "reset" button when IDE asked about (60 sec. waitings).
But now the question is it possible to automate this reset pressing?...
The question remains as the topic indicates: USB not working.
I fixed this issue months ago. The specific driver i used installs onto a particular usb port. So thats why it didnt work in my usb3 port.
