MIDI Input? Synthesisers

Hi,
I'm new to this forum but hope to really involve myself in the future and contribute but at the moment i would love some advice if possible please?

This is going to sound quite anti Arduino to begin but I'm interested in making my own breadboard, Arduino or any microcontroller based Synthesisers (Synthesizers for my friends in the USA) and i would particularly be intersted in knowin if there is any way possible of adding a 5 DIN MIDI Input port into any project with or without using a microcontroller such as Arduino but preferably without so that i could add a MIDI input into an extisting say breadboard synth without relying on a microcontroller. I think i already know the answer as in that there's no hardwired 'circuit' that can do this without using an Arduino , Pico , or STM32 based board but i wonder if anyone could enlighten me otherwise? I basically want (fairy dust) a schematic (i'm also still learning these!) that gives me something like an octocoupler , a diode, a handful of resistors and a magic element to forgive me for not using a microcontroller? This probably makes me sound really stupid (or daft as we say in northern England) but I have no idea and so that's why I'm asking. I'm still learning whilst dealing with a megaton of life's issues and this is keeping me sane and so i would really appreciate an answer that doesn't pull me down as i've already admitted that I don't know much but I'm trying to learn, I've scoured this idea across the net and it always points to using a microcontroller but i know that a microcontroller uses circuits and so surely i could set up a pcb circuit on standby to use with any diy synth project or maybe not? I thank you for not ripping me to shreds I'm new to this site but familiar with others that live on top of one side of a bridge and have to tap, tap, tap to get past the trolls so i really appreciate your patience with me (and your knowledge) Thank you so much in advance for anything that you can provide.

Late here, being tired so...

Lots of words are not good and not what forum needs.
Please come back with more technical information.

Here are a few links to get you started. The hill is steep.
The following site said

Analog synthesizers are very cool, but also quite difficult to make.

Google is your best friend, all I did was google DIY synthesizer

Being a beginner/newbie call it what you like i described it as well as i could and apologise for using words but that's what i was taught originally when being educated on how to communicate. Maybe when i have more knowledge i will be able to come back with more technical info but then i probably wouldn't be asking a simple question like this so I'm sorry if I've offended you or taken up some of your valuable space but i really needed help and i thought that this is one of the reasons that forums exist.

Thanks sonofcy for your advice , but as i mentioned i have made loads of diy synths i just needed advice on adding MIDI or at least CV/Gate but it seems that people without knowledge shouldn't be posting on here according to Railroader so this will be my last post here. Thanks again sonofcy

How to communicate with this forum is told in the link in reply #2.
